I am a 45 year old male and Iv had dull pain in my back in the kidney area that I noticed more when I needed to pee , I've had it for for about 6/7 weeks but don't have any other symptoms . I am not losing weight and eating quite well . . I went to the doctor 3 days ago and he took a sample of urine which showed blood and protein in it. The pain is dull but when pressed is quite painful. The doctor said it could be a kidney infection and has prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics. I have got myself very worked up having looked at the Internet and the word cancer keeps popping out. Now of course Iv convinced myself that I have it as I don't have a lot of the symptoms associated with an infection. I have to go back to the doc in 4 days however was interested in feedback which might ease my mind somewhat.
