Best way to earth a turntable?

What is the best way to earth a turntable? I've a standard wire going from the back of the turntable to the amp, but depending on the day or how close I stand to the amp, I get a slight hum? sometimes none. What is the best way to fix this? Cheers, G

There's a dedicated earth terminal on your amp, beside the phono sockets. If you're using that and still getting a hum the earth issue could be that your amp isn't actually earthed at all or you have a mains earth issue.
