Tucson discounts?

Thinking of getting a new Tucson probably not until end Feb/Marcb time but trying to sort out finances etc in meantime. Went looking yesterday and really liked it, thinking of the comfort plus model, on pcp and with about 5k trade in as deposit (may put a small bit more cash to deposit but not decided on that yet). I got the list prices yesterday but didn't do any negotiating etc.

Has anyone bought this year that could give me an idea of any deals they got or extras thrown in? Not the most clued in about cars and buying so don't want to go spending more than I should be!

Seemed to be a rush of people buying in the garage yesterday so I'm imagining the discounts might not be great because if I don't buy the next person will!

Once you have a trade-in then your not going to get a discount the same way as walking in without a trade-in. What you need to do is try and get the best trade-in allowance for your existing car or just sell it privately.

However the Tucson is literally driving itself out of showroom doors at the moment so dealers can well afford to play hardball. And as you said showrooms are busy at the moment with the new year, new car hysteria. You might find that going in sometime in March or April might offer more opportunity to drive a better deal as new car sales slow down a bit.

5k deal could be gone by then though.

Just saw stats for 20 days, Tucson have sold so many, doubt they need to provide too many sweeteners looking at those numbers!

The scrappage deal at the moment is 4K, but supposedly over this weekend and we've no way we'l be buying in a week so will have to take our chances on what the dealer will give in a month or two.

That's a great way to push people to buy NOW! Simple sociological trick - Aldi and Lidl are using the same...

Any scrappage deal is alike: if they are paying 4k for cars that are basically worthless, that's the discount one can expect WITHOUT trade-in after the deal is over.

Not so. Hyundai aren't the first company to do scrappage deals, and they do end.
Furthermore, the extra discount given by the manufacturer during scrappage deals doesn't still exist when the deal is over.

It's not really a trick. You either want one of the cars or you don't. You're guaranteed to get the 4K off now, you're not guaranteed in a few months. Simple.

Thanks, not really relying on scrappage as such anyway so even if that's gone it shouldn't make a huge impact. I have been told prices are going up by 500 come Feb 1st but can't order before then so if that happens I'll just have to put up with it!
