I am guessing I need to let my insurance company know if I passed my driving test. I don't expect a decrease in the insurance cost, however it makes sense that I still need to let them know.

My question is do I have to let them know now (I passed a few days ago) or when I receive my license? I know you cannot put the N plates up and drive unsupervised until you get the license, but is it the same for letting the insurance company know...?

I'd ring them on Monday morning and let them know you passed. You can say you have applied for your license and are waiting for it. Hopefully you'll see a decrease!

When I passed few years ago, Aviva decreased my premium when I told them I passed. Didn't even have to send them a copy or anything. It was proper discount as I was paying almost 3k for a year.

    Ring them.

To my surprise I got a refund. Think it was like €50. I just thought I had to let them know as well.
Let us know how you get on.

Not very hopeful for a refund as insurance seems to have gone up so much in the past few months, but you never know! Still going to ask them anyway of course :pac: Thanks, will call them Monday.

Got it reduced by €317...woo! My original price is €1600, so it's still quite a lot. But €317 is a lot of money and a very nice surprise. Didn't think it would be reduced at all.

Received my new full driving licence after 7 working days and went to update my insurance today, but didn't got any discount. I'm with Cross Insurance broker(AXA).

Did you have much time left on it before renewal? My renewal isn't until July so I think that helped!
