Sorry if this gets asked all the time guys, search function isn't working at the minute.

I need settings for TVheadend in Kodi to tune Irish and UK FTA channels, best I can do with guides online is get Rte ones and thats it, it will scan 37 channels but I can only use Rte One , +1 , junior. No TV3 TG4 or UK ones, had it working before I reset my box and didn't back up my settings.

So, the first thing to know is what is the version of the tvheadend server you are running? I would recommend version 4.0 as the configuration does seem a lot more straightforward than previous versions.

To be clear, the server (backend) does not run "in" Kodi. Kodi only manages the tvheadend PVR client. Is your setup on Raspbian, Openelec ... or something else???

to set up Saorview & Freeview using tvheadend version 4.0.* do this:

    go to http://addressofserver:9981 (e.g. http://192.168.1.100:9981)
    click Configuration tab
    click Networks
click Add -> Type DVB-T -> name it Saorview and select your predefined Muxes for local transmitter. Save.
click Add -> Type DVB-T -> name it Freeview and select your predefined Muxes for local transmitter. Save.

Next click TV Adapters and for each of your DVB-T adapters, select both of the above networks. Rember to click Enable and then Save.

Scan should be done automatically then ... although you will probably have to map the services to channels manually.

IIRC pre-version 4.0.* is different, but I can't really remember the flow. Most of the online information is for those older versions..

here is a good reference point for 4.0 http://docs.tvheadend.org/configure_tvheadend/

My own experience with tvheadend is a raspberry pi setup with one pi in my attic dedicated to the backend stuff running Raspbian and tvheadend server 4.0.7. That box has 2 USB DVB-T tuners attached for Saorview and a quad LNB Sat>IP server connected over ethernet for Freesat and a big hard drive to manage recordings. I then have Openelec running on Raspberry Pi 2s on each TV in the house with recordings managed by the backend. The whole thing works brilliantly with a combined EPG of Saorview and Freesat on all my TVs. While I have no experience with Freeview, it is the same configuration process as Saorview. I am lucky in my location in that a small indoor ariel gets a good signal for Saorview. I did need to get the sat dish installed. My total install cost was about 500 quid and that has given me 4 TVs around the house all with Saorview/Freesat and other Kodi apps. Also, Mimic skin on Kodi is very configurable, looks great and works really well for TV.

Thanks for the reply Pablo, thats pretty much what I've been doing. Even trying small variations in the settings . Running latest version of tvheadend on an open elec box, best I've been able to achieve is all the irish stations minus RTé One and the UK ones, if I check muxes in tvheadend it will show the 30 odd results for one network which is the irish ones i mentioned but scan idle/failed or pend/none on the others.

Anything obvious I should check in the config/browser?

PEND means that the scan has not yet occurred. You can force the scan from the networks tab. I am not at home at the moment so I am not 100% sure of the flow

I am really at a loss .. Saorview just has the 2 muxes... see the split of channels here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saorview#Channels

RTE One, UTV Ireland and RTEJr all on Mux 2. So if you are not receiving any of them but you are receiving the mux 1 channels, that could point to an antenna issue. Do you have a dvb-t set top box to test your signals?

The pi is notorious for USB bus issues (e.g. low power). How many usb tuners are connected to the bus? It might require an external powered hub to operate correctly.

Other than all of that I really do not know .. :(

Should have been clearer this is running on a Wetek openelec box with basic kodi installed, the box has an input for the antenna but also as an out which I can connect to the TV and watch tv independently of the box so I connected that and tuned the TV that way to test it and it does pick up full range of Irish and Freeview channels.

There are 2 tuners on the box , DVB-T/C , C is not in use.

I've tried the automated set up in networks choosing ireland clermont carn there (in louth here and antenna pointed north so I assume thats correct) and that gives 2 muxs , also manually configured it using commonly suggested values for Mhz etc

I'll have another play with it later , I did have it working but had to do a clean install of kodi last week and wasn't able to make a note of settings, nor can I find the guide I initially used when I first set it up , it's likely I'm over looking something silly here so I'll re-do it to rule out user stupidity and post up screen shots to make it a little clearer :o

UPDATE: I was able to get Saorview working 100% and some UK ones.

What I did was get it to scan everything, using the predefined mux "Generic:Auto Detect " it found the BBC's etc so I made a note of the the settings and freq. etc deleted everything and manually created muxes based on those.

For me most settings set to Auto worked, 666mhz for UK and 722+754MHz for Saorview.

No channel 4's or ITV 4etc though, which I can get on my TV usually...... however today I get weak or no signal. So I'll rescan once those come back up. Weather or interference most likely.
