Have many of you used the splt cv boots and have they held ok?

I have an inner one to change and these boots nearly make it too handy but are they as good as they say?

They'll get you out of trouble. Used one recently as I didn't have time before test to strip it down. If done right there fine imo, do small sections at a time

Fiddley to get done without grease getting on the joint, and making glueing impossible. Use good quality pvc gloves yourself and clean everything before bringing the new boot anywhere near the car.

I had success with one of these on my 928. Takes a bit of patience, but much easier than the alternative of dismantling suspension.

Car sold, so no idea how long it lasted. On rwd it wouldn't have got as much strain as fwd.

May as well give up showering if we resort to using split type cv boots.

I had one on my last car and it passed 5 or maybe 6 NCTS with it on.

Now don't lose your head over this.

Splits can be messy but the advantage is that you can do it in situ.
    Worth a shot anyway.

Just make sure you get no grease on the surfaces that have to be glued if you rap some clingfilm on shaft it will keep grease at bay.

I've used one before worked well.

Ive used them in the past a few times...made a mess of one alright and paid the price of wrecking a joint...the glue that comes with them is REALLY strong so you dont get a second chance...wrapping the shaft in cling film is key to ensure you dont get grease all over the the new boot. Once done right they are a good job.
