Biology - Fieldwork or not?

Hi, I'm considering doing the Leaving Cert Biology course as an external candidate. I was wondering if there is an element of fieldwork that needs to be graded. The reason i'm asking is that i see conflicting information- some pages say I need fieldwork others say that I dont-

"As the syllabus in each of these subjects has been drawn up on the basis that candidates will devote an appropriate amount of time to laboratory work (in Chemistry and in Physics), and to practical/laboratory work and fieldwork (in Biology), a candidate will not be admitted to the Leaving Certificate examination in any of these subjects in any case where the Commission considers that an adequate course of such work has not been followed by the candidate. For this purpose, records of the work done should be kept and be available for inspection or for submission to the Commission."

    Any advice appreciated.

Where does it say on SEC pages that it is not needed?
The position is as stated in your post.

There are 22 mandatory experiments that you need to carry out for Biology, 3 of which will come up in the exam (you need to answer two). No marks are allocated for writing them up and as you said, there seems to be a lot of contradictory information circulating as to whether they can be inspected or not, but I would highly recommending writing all of them up as it is the most helpful form of revision for that section of the exam
