    Hi
Cancelled sky subscription. Have just had broadband installed . My question is what exactly do I need to buy to be able to record ,pause etc??. I'd also like to be able to use Netflix,YouTube. I have a smart TV if that makes any difference . I'd also love to get a box that would categorise channels within a guide. I'm completely ignorant to all of this so any help will be much appreciated !

Humax Freesat box is good for recording the UK channels.

Given the announcement of a tie-up between Saorview and Freesat on the Freetime platform, a Freetime box would be better than a Freesat box - check out http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/, especially if you have broadband as well as a satellite receiver

Freetime is the same as Freesat with the addition of a "last 7 days" service
http://freetime.freesat.co.uk/ and the option for subscription channels

The latest software for the Humax box has the Netflix app so that is another reason to buy a humax that is off course if you have a sub to Netflix :-D Humax are great boxes. I'd always recommend them to anyone I install for.

No they dont they are a Satellite PVR using the Freesat platform. They are not for Saorview just in case you think that. The Netflix app obviously needs the internet as do the iplayers already on the box.

I think you have completely misinterpreted the announcements.

A Freetime box will not give you access to Freesat playback unless you have a VPN at your router.

The only tie up is that Saorview will be using the same software that Freesat use for their platform. That does not mean anything as both platform will not be joined or give access to each other platforms. One is dvb-s for a start.
