What are Freisan bull calves making?
Nice shapely ones, trained to the feeder and about three weeks old?

I don't know for sure. I'd be guessing around the €100 mark. Bit up or down depending.
What do others think or have any on here sold any yet this Spring?

Mart today good fr calves 3weeks old were making €120/€130. €180 is steep

180 for a good square br fr calf at a month old wouldn't be far off the mark

This thread won't be long sorting out who is buying and who is selling calves?;)

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

If they are square, a months and de horned 180 wouldn't be a rob.

Is there really any profit in buying a friesain for 180 when all true costs are accounted for? I know it is cheap to get into stock but when all the costs are accounted I can't see the profit. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

A early feb/late Jan square br/fr bull calf bought at 4 weeks old for 180 and after getting a good do well leave as much if not more then any comparable beef animal you buy....
Neighbour buys nearly all the bull calves of us and averages around 1200 hung up in the factory at 24 months for them with beef at 4 euro a kilo not making a fortune but they are leaving behind a small bit of profit

Like that it all depends on factory price. If I got 180 I'd even deliver!!

There might be some but you've definitely given someone €100 of what should have been your margin. It depends on what age the calf was. If he was stated ed as being up to the limit age wide for the calf ring and you had a suspicion he might have been in the rushes for a while 180 wouldn't be too bad. But a four week old calf I wouldn't think so. We made nice money for a few years on 20 month ho bulls. All bought less than €100 often little more than half that. Killed around 360-380kg carcase.
