J1 by myself

Hello guys im just trying to get some information off you guys regarding the J1. Its looking likely that if I go on a J1 this year it will be by myself. I was considering going to San Fran. Would anyone have any advice about doing a J1 by their self ? or any advice regrading the best areas to stay in and how to find accommodation with other J1 students.

If you want a room of your own, be prepared to pay upwards of $1000. Even in Oakland/Berkeley, it's hard to find anything under that.

Hi guys, looking into doing the j1 next year myself with a few friends. Can anyone give me a rough idea how much it'll cost (everything included) initially. I plan on getting a job there but I'm looking for costs fights accomadtion visa expenses ect. Thanks much appreciated
