Polynomial long division

I simply don't understand how to do long division for those polynomial questions. The book just assumes you should know how to do it with very little explanation and it's making it impossible for me to do the factor theorem and polynomial questions.
Does anyone have any links to any explanations or could someone demonstrate how to do it? Thanks in advance.

There is a load of great Math teachers on Youtube. Can be hard to filter through who is good and who is not and which of the material is relevant to the Irish curriculum. This guy is a fun teacher and easy to listen to. Fast forward to 9:16 for a pretty good example of the kind you're looking for.

Another very good teacher is Eddie Woo...teaching in Australia but an awful lot of the videos relevant to the Irish Higher Level.

Mate, that's exactly what I was looking for. I completely understand now and I can even do the exercises in my textbook, so I really must get it now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Also, thanks to the mod who edited my title. It's a lot clearer now. Cheers all round! It's so great to be able to find the factors of polynomials, quite a few marks go for those questions.
