Choice of these two laptops?

I'd appreciate any advice from somebody better-versed in current laptop technologies. I'm looking at a budget model at budget cost because my use is mainly, well, budget. Primarily light internet browsing (YouTube, boards etc), Microsoft Works (only Word actually), downloading and watching movies and listening to music. No gaming, photo processing or anything too demanding.

I do have a slight preference for better sound quality as I tend to listen to a lot of music, jacked to my speakers. Also a screen that's not too dim is a plus and the longer battery life of the two the better.

I'm currently looking at these two models:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015OG3HQ8?ref_=gbps_tit_s-3_3127_67e264dc&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Same processors, hard drive size, OS. Only significant difference is RAM. My last laptop was Lenovo and I ended up returning it as there were issues with mouse pad tracking, general sluggishness and a problem with output jack.

Which of these would you recommend? Or anything else in a similar price range. I'd prefer to go with Amazon as Christmas has landed me in gift cards. Thanks!

Asus purely because of the security cluster-fkcs Lenovo have perpetrated over the last few months. Used to recommend them but really can't now.
