How a off script PA phrase can be blown out of proportion

Strange thing to say but it's hardly a big deal. Unfortunately the clown who felt the need to record it is doing her best to make it a big deal. I checked out her Facebook page and she's tagged every clickbait site under the sun in her post in the hope that it will go viral and she'll get her 17 seconds of fame. Absolutely pathetic.

I cannot stand people who do things like this. It often occurs at those water charge protests. People shoving a phone in a Garda's face and provoking them as much as possible in the hope of getting a recorded reaction.

This is a nothing story and far from showing how inconsiderate and unprofessional Ryanair are it actually shows how ****in dumb the numnuts general public are. Man how people love a shock horror story. Same toolbags who love to moan about their neighbours dog barking to everyone on the street except the owner.

The sadest thing is a young woman who was in a stressful position has just been put into the world wide spot light because of a like button hoare just needed more admiration. Probabably uploads their ****in cornflakes to YouTube while singing along to lady gaga.

PS: Even the title of this thread is annoying me. Nobody was ever going to die. It would have been the first aircraft accident in living memory caused by icing while parked at the gate.

A few bevvies on board. After an eight hour delay.

    Big fekkin yawn.

And the clip has been taken down too. Proper order.

You cannot have a pee now without someone recording it. It must be hell for the recipients.

Facebook is something else. Virtual friends and likes? Yes love, that's all you will have by the looks of it pet.

The clip has been cached by the Daily Mail and the Mirror - accompanied by their (and the Indo's) usual range of adjectives: shocking, stunned, horrific, etc. ... so no doubt yer wan who recorded it has a good run ahead of her.

On the plus side, if you actually watch the video it shows that the general (flying Irish?) public are not in the least bit put out; if anything, they were celebrating the FA's creative tension-busting departure from a prepared script. :)

The Mirror's article on it is simply embarrassing. You'd wonder how journalists like that sleep at night.

Jesus forgive that CC member for trying to bring a bit of humour to pax suffering an 8 hour delay (hardly). Ms. Ryan seems like the person who is offended by everything. Some people don't deserve the benefits in life.

Reminds me of the time a few years ago an FR CC member went off script and announced that anyone caught smoking will be asked to leave. Got a great laugh from all on board. Hope there are no repercussions for this person. World gone mad.

Incredibly dumb thing to say over the PA. It's the captains job to inform passengers about the requirement to de-ice, not the cabin crew. As an ex ryanair captain I can tell you that I would have been very unhappy with this crew member.

A typical over the top reaction to a nothing comment. "

We can't take off with ice on the wings".
    FACT

    "We don't want to die"
FACT, and totally acceptable if taken in the context of the preceding comment.

If I had heard that on board I would not have batted an eyelid. It's not like they shouted "we're all gonna die"!!! ffs

I wonder who takes such newspapers seriously.

Pretty surprised at the reactions on this thread.

Take a step back for a minute. If you were running an airline, would you consider the comments made by your employee, in front of already inconvenienced passengers, young children and nervous flyers, good for business?

I'd tut, roll my eyes slightly and then get on with my day (at the reaction not the comment).

If the staff member were in front of me, I might lift a brow slightly to convey 'careful there might be some muppet overreact to a comment like that'.

Whether it's good or bad for business is irrelevant really. It doesn't justify this trial by Facebook mentality or the fact that a CC member who was presumably equally as fed up and inconvenienced as the passengers may lose her job because some pond life wanted some attention on the internet. It wasn't the best thing to say over the PA but as has been pointed out already, it was actually true. I fail to see what the girl who uploaded the clip wanted to achieve. I'd bet my bottom dollar that she didn't pick up a phone and make a complaint with Ryanair or the IAA.

In this age of death by Health & Safety I find it hard to understand why this comment stands out. Aviation is all about safety. Everything you have done up to and including getting on the plane (security checks, max 100 mls, etc.) is allegedly in the name of safely getting people from A to B, so merely clarifying the reason for the further delay - ice on wings and the effect it could have if not removed - is totally acceptable. So what if it was off-script (we've changed the title), everything ON the script is there to prevent you from dying.

    The world is gone mad.

It's an over-reaction that may or may not gain viral traction, but a stupid thing to say by the announcer nonetheless. Not everybody is as cavalier about flying as those in the business. I've only been on a plane that had to be de-iced once, and as it was a completely new event (to me) I was a bit anxious about the whole process, having never seen it before, not knowing if it was routine or not, etc.

Oh don't get me wrong, I completely agree with everyone about the 'like' hunting and over sharing of videos on social media.
