Help cleaning a watch

Would I be ignorant to ask if a glass cleaner such as window cleaner could be used to clean the crystal and case of a watch? Not literally soak it but spray some onto a soft cloth sort of thing. Normally I just use a small cloth like what I use to clean my glasses but I think a few pieces I have need a better clean.

    Thanks

Yeah, that would do it fine. Keep it off the leather or rubber straps though. But it wont remove any fine scratches. Believe it or not toothpaste is great for those fine scratches on many watch crystal types. Details on the internet somewhere!

i wouldnt use window cleaner. there can be anti reflective coatings on watch faces that may not fare well to chemical compounds.
if a crystal doesnt come clean with a soft microfibre cloth and a drop of water or even just your breadth, then its most likely not dirty, but scratched.

likewise for a watch casing, anything that doesnt come off with a cloth and water is generally damage, not dirt.
    Can you post a picture?
