For all the good McManus, O'leary and Ricci have done for Irish racing are we now at at the stage where the rest of the owners are fighting for crumbs that fall from their table. These mass entries are getting ridiculous now. Punters are turning away from going racing because of the inevitable 3 or 4 long odds on shots every meeting now. Something surely needs to be done to address this anomaly and soon.:o

Did anyone see the 2:25? 8 horses in the race rode under the McManus colours!

Yeah he had 10 in one the other week. That race today had 8 JP runners, 2 giggingstown and 4 from W.Mullins. Hard for the small man to compete.

The big boys are here to stay
jp puts more money in than he takes out
gigginstown invest heavily and send money down the ranks ie point to point
    dont know anything about riccis

Maybe the race conditions will have to change
some races are conditioned for horses who never ran , winner of one etc
punchestown used to have a race that you had to be a kildare farmer to enter or some condition
    like that
maybe races for horses where the trainer hasnt won in 1 month 2 months etc
or x amount of races that are provincial , munster leinster etc
Uk have a northern circuit and a southern circuit

years ago i think it was moyglare that left the small country track maidens alone , give smaller operations a chance

One thing is for sure that something will have to change
nolan and colm murphy on the scoreboard today and it was a surprise to the commentators as these two were prolific winning trainers until they didnt get the quality of horse or couldnt compete with the money the big lads had

Great to see good horses but will get boring very quickly if year in year out the same lads get the pick of the stock and control the game and sport as a whole

It still does - the Bishopscourt Cup.

A poor indicator when Leopardstown cant get a sponsor for the Irish Gold Cup since Hennessy pulled out.
