Just a quick question. I recently bought a new 152 Nissan interstar 125BHP MW base. I'm carrying around 1.2 ton of tools. The fuel usage is around 850Km for 95L of diesel. I'm disappointed with it as the old van I traded in was the old 04 interstar. It was LWB, 100BHP and carrying nearly 2 ton and I used to get the same if not better fuel usage from that. Both tanks carry 95L approx. Can anybody explain why?

Possibly the new van has a DPF, these don't do anything positive for fuel economy.

Hi, 11.2l/100km seems to be high fuel consumption. Been driving LWB VW Transporters for years and average around 7.2 or 8.2 l/100km for short distance commutes. The addition of 500kg extra weight makes very little difference to the overall consumption.

    What's a DPF?

Diesel Particulate filter. Basically a sieve that catches soot and then burns it off.

Spoke to the garage, the reckon a DPF won't reduce increase fuel usage. Any other ideas?

Yep. Tools and a lot of brass plumbing fittings. When I got it weighed it was nearly full

A DPF does increase fuel usage, on my car it doubles while a regen cycle is happening. That's about 20 mins every second tank.
Some Diesel engines have higher fuel usage when new, after 10k it might settle down.
