iPad Air 2 Android Equivalent

So I'm possibly planning a move back to android and like all my devices the same OS.

Hopefully moving to the LG G5 from my iPhone but I was wondering what's the equivalent android tablet to my iPad Air 2? Tbh more and more I'm finding I only use it for browsing, media consumption like Netflix, YouTube and reading books so maybe don't need something unreal powerful.

My main thing is I don't want a feckin lag fest.

I suppose 1080p screen, 3GB RAM, bottom or front facing speakers, good battery and performance. Maybe SD card support for adding movies and shows to it if travelling.

    Anything tasty out there?

Google Pixel C sounds like the nearest thing to to what you are seeking.
10.2" display, 2560x1800 resolution. 3GB RAM, 32 or 64GB storage (no SD card option unfortunately). Aluminium back. Latest Nvidia Tegra X1 chipset.
Runs latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as Google make it, and will continue to get the latest version for another 2 years with a further year of security updates thereafter.
Starts at €509 direct from Google's store for the 32GB model.

Other devices worth considering are the 9" Google Nexus 9 and the 8" Nvidia Shield Tablet K1.
But for the fact that the Shield has a smaller screen, and I assume you want something nearer the iPad Air's screen size, I would have recommended the Shield outright as it is a fantastic device for €200. Shield also has SD expansion slot.
All 3 of these run a very "stock" Android, the 2 branded by Google obviously run the way Google design the UI, but the Nvidia also has a stock type UI with some useful enhancements. No heavily modified skin like that which companies like Samsung put on top of Android.

    Nvidia K1 shield I reckon..
If its not too small it has got all that you are looking for.

Most android tablets are 16:9 or 10 aspect ratio compared to 4:3 of the iPad.
It's thats a thing you can't live without , Nexus 9 is the one to go for.

I'd also go for the Nvidia Shield if it is your first Android tablet - I moved from iPad Air to Android tablet a couple of months ago as all of my recent phones have been Android so I wanted the same OS too - but to be honest I'm not too impressed. I'd try something cheaper before spending the guts of 550 on a Pixel C (which does not get amazing reviews anyway). I may go back to Apple although usually I try get 2 years or more out of my tablets.

I got a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 for 214.99 EUR in Gamestop a couple of months ago - not stock Android but amazing screen for movies etc. - if you manage to find one of these at this price somewhere it could be another option.

Thanks so much for all the replies.

Screen size I'm starting to think I could cut a corner in tbh. Let's just say I have kodi and might not watch movies that often on the tablet to be a massive concern.

I had the 2013 Nexus 7 and loved it but android 5 slowed it down and made it annoying.

Does the pixel c and nexus 9 not have a lot of issues?

The Shield looks good but how is it with only 2GB of RAM?

Very little experience of iPads (just androids)

Adult Son is big into film, editing, graphics and was considering an iPad for Xmas as a possibility.
What would people recommend (we already have core i5 laptops and acer, lenovo tablets)?
New iPad 6th Gen (€370 ish) or
refurbished iPad air 2 (€270 ish)

    Appreciate any constructive feedback
