Boxymo insurance-looking for feedback

I lost my NCB as I cancelled my policy over 3 years ago and I am getting crazy quotes on a 1.4 Honda civic for insurance. Boxymo are looking the cheapest at €850. I heard they install a tracker GPS device to track the mileage and speed etc. I don't need to worry about the mileage limit as i only intend doing about 6000-6500km per year. Can anyone offer any feedback good or bad. They don't seem to answer their phones and everything is deal with online. Also I presume any NCB you build up with them is recognized by other insurance companys and also does anybody know are there any difficulties in ending the contract with them after the term is up?

I previously worked in a brokers office, I never dealt with Boxymo myself but had clients that were with them. The only complaints I ever had were in relation to mileage limits being exceeded. As you have said this isn't an issue for you (just be 100% sure). I had a client paying €100 per month to th and needed up paying €200 per month on top of this as he was exceeding the limit. Just read the t&cs carefully and you should be fine. As with all car insurance you'll have a 14 day cooling off period

Stupid as it sounds, the 1.4 civic would be in a higher insurance bracket then other 1.4 cars. Try getting a quote on a different car

Boxymo seems to be the company that most younger drivers choose now. I have heard the quotes they are giving out are very cheap compared to the rest.

I'd really discourage the likes of a GPS tracker in a car. All that the GPS device can measure reliabily is speed, distance travelled, and where the vehicle is driven.

I've said it before on here, but if you end up knocking down a drunk cyclist, with no lights, on a rainy night, and the GPS device says you were doing 51kph in a 50 zone, you could be found at fault for the accident.

Too late Porsche. Already purchased the car. The quote they give for the guaranteed mileage before excess charges are applied is the same price for 8000km, 10000km and 12000km. Whats the point in them having the 3 allowances if there all the same price:rolleyes: I tried paying for the premium and I got this message
There has been a break in cover between this policy and your previous insurance or vehicle purchase date. We may need to discuss this with you.

Please contact us on to proceed with this purchase
. WTF? Probaly will have hassle contacting them now.

I had the same problem, I phoned them up and told them why there was a gap in policy, no big deal

I am waiting until the next pay day a i.e the end of the month before I drive the car and get insured but I have another couple of questions for anyone who knows the answer to. The car has alloy wheels and I heard tat once you pay your deposit or premium online the installer of the GPS box takes photos of the car and of there are alloy wheels which came as standard there is a risk they will cancel the policy and you d lose your money you already paid. I don't know how true this is. Also because I wont be driving more then 7000KM a year and the distance limits available are 8000, 10000, 12000 and 14000 where the 8000-12000 band cost exactly the same with it states a 3000km bonus. I am perplexed as to why there the same cost. Surely they should just quote 2 different price bands i.e 12000km max and 14000km?

You are right about the picture bit, friend of mine had alot of problems with them. He had a golf with RS6 alloys on it, he bought the car like that and because he didnt disclose this they kept his deposit and canceled his policy. See people every week complaining about them on my facebook page also ( im 19 ) so plenty of people around my age are choosing to go with them, but alot seem to regret it.

The car I got a Honda civic has alloys as standard. Will this be a no no with them I.e if I pay the premium online and the gps installer comes out to install it the policy will be cancelled and I will lose the money I paid

No its only changes that could affect the handling that are not standard that you need to declare.

Why don't you just ring them and ask them?

Asking randomers on the internet about specifics for an insurance companies terms and conditions is a recipe for disaster.

    Just pick up the phone.
