    hello,

is there any way to check if a boiler is working before installation?
Its an 8 year old grant 70-90. Electricity available but no oil or water.Basically just want to check if the burner will switch on or not.

    Many Thanks,

    Jim

You could put a gauge in the nozzle outlet of the pump and wire up the burner. It will only run for a few seconds, but if it does go through the proper startup sequence and cut out, you will have a fair idea of its condition.

You will also be able to see if the pump is building up some pressure if you have a small amount of fuel supplied to the pump and have bled it.

Pump, motor and control box, will be the most expensive replacements if they are broken.

You could just wire it up and let it run (ONCE) through its startup sequence. It will give you some idea of the condition of it.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

    many thanks wearb.

ps the tank will positioned a 2 feet higher than the boiler over an 8 meter run. 5 meters will run downhill but the last 3 metres before the boiler will be running slightly uphill. This cannot be avoided. Should this still be ok without a tiger loop.
