    I have got the house rewired recently and i noticed that cables here in ireland are rigid.
    The rest of europe (exl. UK) use flexible cables.

    Why the difference ?
    It's it not easier to fit and less chance to break the flexible ?

    Flex = better
    Solid core = cheaper

    Unless it's DC in which case solid is better but work hardens and not as good for crimp terminations.

    pvc single core cables does come in solid or multi strand type.

    when it is 3 core twin and earth or the white type round cable (nymj) it will be solid no matter where you are in europe
