Where can I hire a 2 seater?

70th birthday for my mam coming up: she always jokes that I'll make it big some day and pick her up in a 2-seat sports car. Not sure about the first part but I'd like to treat her to the second.

Is there anywhere in Ireland I can hire one for a day? Something like a Porsche would be ideal but something like a Mazda MX5 or BMW Z3 would work fine too.

Alternatively if there's anyone out there who owns such a car and wants to make a few Euro let me know! (I'm 35, driving for 17 years, no penalty points)

Theres no places that really rent fast stuff in ireland, Not sure is it the lack of a market or the insurance, but it isn't easily done, Might have to go up north, but I never looked into that part of it myself. There used to be a place by dublin Airport I think, but there doesn't seem to be any trace of them online now.

You could chance a main dealer, see will they rent you one if you insure it yourself.

If that fails I've a remapped Caddy you can have, it ticks the 2 seat box, and none of the others :P

If you're in Dublin you could for example try http://courtyardclassiccars.com/, they've got some nice two seater classic cars, for example a '79 Merc 350 SL and a '90 Alfa Romeo Spider.

In Donegal you'll find http://www.classiccarhire.ie/ who also have a Merc 350 SL, as well as a Triumph TR6.

No doubt you can find other firms who'd have something tasty if you spend a bit of time googling.

My local audi dealer does wedding car self drive with Audi A6 etc for something like 180 per day. I'm sure they could be persuaded to hire out any of the used stock on site.

Id say go to a dealer and get a mx5 or z3 on a test drive would be the best option
