    Hi,

Has anyone had any dealings with East Coast Cars in Slane? I'm thinking of buying an Astra from them.

Are they easy to deal with? What's the warranty like?

Also, has anyone had any bad experiences with similar Opel Astra? I know 3 people that have them and they haven't had any problems with them. Is there anything that I should look out for when I'm viewing the car?

    Thanks!

I know a chap that bought a car there that developed a problem fairly swiftly (within their warranty period).

As far as I know (and he's an honest lad) they were horrible to deal with, to the extent of literally shouting at him to get out of their show room and refused to deal with him. In the end, they took the car back and offered him 'store value' off another car, but only from a select few cars (that matched none of his criteria). So he couldn't use it off any car of his choosing.

In the end he ended up with a car that wasn't at all suited to his needs. (This went on for weeks, by the way, it wasn't sorted out in half an hour or anything).

Based on hearing about that experience first hand, I'd never touch them.

But... and this is the important part... this is the internet, and you will hear the negative stories quicker than the positive ones, so it's up to you to take the unbiased stance and see what you think yourself. Personally, if I were buying from them I'd assume no warranties or come-backs and I'd make sure the car was checked over thoroughly by and indy mechanic. In essence, I'd treat it as a private sale.

Actually, I'd compare their price/s with a private sale and go from there. I'd rather buy privately.
