Business is slow where I work so my hours have been reduced. This week I will only be working 3 days. Can I get social welfare a payment to bring up my money a bit? How does it work?

Yes. Get a letter from your employer, and take it to Welfare to find out how it works - there are a few options depending on whether your days are fixed or not.

Go to the welfare or citizen to get JA form (or print it), fill it and bring back to welfare. They will contact your employer to ask why your hours are reduced etc and depends on how many days you work per week you will get paid. To get JA payments you have to fill out dockets every week signed by your employer and only if you work 0-3 days per week you will get paid.

Just to clarify. If your days have been reduced then go into your local social welfare office. You will have to fill up an application form and will also be give forms for your employer to complete and you will also be given forms that will need to be completed weekly by you and signed off by your employer.
