Sony Xperia Z3 - Micro Sim problem.

My Xperia Z3 (New) will not accept a micro sim 16 gb (Kingston Brand). When the card is inserted a message - SD card damaged, try reformatting - is displayed. I am now reading on other forums that this is a quite common problem where this particular model is concerned. Are there any possible solutions?
