VW Golf mk6 radio upgrade

    Folks,

Wondering can anyone help. I currently have a factory installed vw rcd 310 radio installed in my 09 golf. I've a Bluetooth option in the settings for radio but I can't seem to find it when trying to connect so I'm guessing there is no Bluetooth module.

My question is can I add a Bluetooth module to my rcd 310? If not could I install one of the newer touchscreen radios or will it be cost prohibitive?

There is a dedicated upgrade and audio sub forum here for these sort of questions:

You'll need the Bluetooth module. They aren't usually all that expensive and need to he coded in and it will work with your radio.

For the touch screen then you can get the RNS-310 (315 if you want nav) for about 300 way and the RNS-510 for about 500.

Cheers mate I don't know if i'd have the cash to get the touch screen radio although I'd love to. Is there any particular Bluetooth module I've to get? And is there issues with android and VW Bluetooth kits? I've a Samsung s6 edge but remember reading something years ago about VW Bluetooth being very restricted - that could be older modules though.

I was reading about the 9w7 bluetooth module would that work with the rcd 310?
I have highline display (Please see attached to confirm - my display is like the one on the right) and the steering wheel controls. The problem i'm coming up against is the module is very expensive (at least the 9w7 one is) and thats before fitting so maybe i would be better off upgrading the whole radio to the RNS-310 which with my limited understanding means i'll have built in bluetooth compatable with my MDI

It would make sense to upgrade to the rns310 as you're indeed correct that the Bluetooth module is built in. Not a bad unit as is somewhat faster then the RNS510 too.

Fitting will be a breeze too, hardest part will be wiring the microphone cable up to overhead light switch assembly. I had installed the 9w7 on my previous mk6 and it does take a while alright.

    .

Are you sure the RNS 310 has a built in BT module? I’m in a very similar situation with my Passat cc
