Ok so I'm in a position that I could use some advice on, so I figured an anonymous online messageboard was obviously the best place to go :D

Basically I'm in a job that I don't particularly like. I don't hate it but I definitely don't like it and don't think it really does anything for me career wise. I've been in the role for 15 months. Before that I was in a different position with the same company for 15 months on a fixed term contract. When this position came up I didn't directly apply for it, I actually applied for another position but was unsuccessful. The person that got that role vacated my current role and I moved in to it. I never had a particular interest in this role, but it's a permanent position with a reputable company who I was happy to work for.

I'm seriously considering leaving the company at this stage, I've kept my CV up to date and never deactivated my online jobseeking accounts so I've regularly been contacted by recruiters, it's only now that I'm seriously entertaining any positions they approach me with.

The only problem is that I'm due to get married in July. Part of me is saying to stay put until after the wedding as I know how to do my current job, it's not the worst, maybe I should just stick it out until August when I'm back from honeymoon. The other part of me is worried that I'll miss out on some good job opportunities if I take this approach and basically just get along for the next 6 months.

So there's my issue, what should I do? Is there ever a good time to leave a company or get a new job? Should I just get on with it or am I better off waiting until after the wedding? All advice welcome!

TL;DR Considering changing jobs but getting married in July, is it worth the potential stress of changing job now or should I wait until after the wedding?

You have nothing to lose by looking, surely. Once you have an offer consider if you want to take it. If you want to take it, tell your new employer you are getting married and that you will need to book time off. Most employers would be fine with it.

Doesn't sound like you are in a terrible position but keep a look out nonetheless. Much less stress to find a job when already in one.

If you desperately need to get out, that would be another issue entirely!
