    Quick query folks:

My 2008 c'eed got bumped by another car over Christmas (my driver door) and as well as leaving a big dent in the door panel, the door will no longer close correctly (top sticks out a bit and the doors closes with a audible thunk). My own garage have informed me that this will require a replacement door as the structure of the door is deformed etc.

Now I'm not paying for the damage, but they have quoted just shy of €1500 for the replacement of the door (to include new door, hinges and 10 hours labour etc). Does this seem like mad money to anyone? Just interested really, I was just very surprised when I got the quote.

    Thanks in advance.

Seems about right for a new door. Now if you were paying for it yourself the logical fix for an 8 year old car would be to pick one up at a breakers yard either the same colour or have it sprayed and costs should be less than a third of that.

The problem with picking up a door from a scrap yard in the same colour, is that they are typically slightly different, and noticeable when you have it on the car. So the door would have to be sprayed, and with the blending etc I'd think it would work out more than 500. It could be close to a 1000 i would think.

Had a new door fitted to a Clio recently, €1400 approx is typical.
