Just some food for thought folks. Game Magazines were always a big deal for me when looking to find out about multiple formats and releases. Now that we have the interweb and any amount of online game information, is there anyone who still likes to go and buy games magazines on a monthly basis?? If so what... My two are retro gamer and games master

The cost puts me off a lot of them.

Also I don't travel a lot so it would in the house where I have all manner of technology round me that I'm not likely to look at like an iPad or laptop or whatever.

That said I used to love amstrad action as I had a 6128plus.

More recently Edge generally is a good read.

My guilty pleasure when I bought my Wii U was the Nintendo magazine.

I know not the best journalistic piece but oh so colourful and kinda made me feel like a kid again pre Internet content days.

Did it cease publication recently though? Been a while since I've looked for it in fairness but I thought I heard it was ceasing publication which is real shame and also a sign of the times and were this thread comes from I suppose.

Used to get retrogamer on a semi regular basis but it rarely had anything I not already read before, but I guess thats the nature of historical based publications you've probably read it all before.
    Only get their bookazines now.

I used to pickup Edge, and sometimes the Nintendo magazine when I liked their freebies >.>
Never really bothered with Retro collector, I've read it once or twice at a friends but something about the price on magazines these days makes me just pass them by.

I'm subscribed to Retro Gamer mag on the iPad. Works out very cheap and I always have access to the mags and special editions.
If a nice special edition comes out I'll pick up a physical copy.

I bought an issue of Gamesmaster to read on the train last week, first gaming mag I've bought in a few years.

Writing was dreadful and it cost almost a tenner

Won't be doing that again anytime soon.

the main reason I bought games magazines was for the demo discs, Sega Saturn Magazine & PSW being the main two.
although I had a subscription to CVG back in the early to mid 90s.

demo disks were a great part of my Amiga days. It's amazing how much enjoyment one level of a game can sometimes bring...

I buy almost every issue of retrogamer....they go into a stack under my coffee table and more or less go unread until a Sunday morning where I usually read through it with a pour-over of coffee

games were so expensive back then, easily €100 inflation adjusted, so the demo discs had to keep you going.

Christmas Nights was probably the best freebie ever to come with a gaming magazine.

GamesTM and Retro Gamer are the only two for me, don't like Edge and the rest are rubbish imo. I'm excluding PC gaming magazines as I'm not a PC gamer.

I usually buy them when I'm travelling.

I have heard that some naughty people download the PDF versions of some of these magazines from dodgy websites. ;)

I buy PC Gamer as I don't like bringing my phone into the bathroom

Ah, the Official UK Playstation Magazine - before the second hand ps1 gaming market kicked off here, the platinum line of games and their demo discs kept me going.

Everyone bought it. I'm pretty sure it resulted in games like Tombi!, Kula World, Kurushi etc not selling very well as people got their fill from the demos.
