Hey good folks of the travel forum!

I had planned to treat my boyfriend to a trip to Vancouver for his 30th in March. However, looking at flights now (€1100 each), I'm not convinced it's the best idea. We had planned to stay between 10 and 14 days. Vancouver was chosen as we have friends there that we could stay with but, even counting out accommodation costs, Vancouver is pretty expensive for food/drink/tourist stuff plus we'd be sleeping on the floor!

I'm wondering now if we wouldn't just be better off heading somewhere else where the cost of living is cheaper. The issue of course is that opens up the whole world! :) I'm travelling from Frankfurt so I'm pretty open in terms of where I can go!

So, if you had a budget of around €1500 per person for flights and accom, where would you go? We love food, different cultures and meeting people.

if flying from Frankfurt then look into a package for say Malta.
We did our honeymoon (from Munich) for about 800 each for flights, transfers, 10 nights in 5 the star hilton incl breakfast (and maybe 5 evening meals, but not sure if that was extra on top) and an agent who meets you the first morning to run over what there is to do and see on the island(s) and how to organise that.
Food and drink is reasonable for anyone used to german prices and is about what you'd be used to, but cheap compared to say Dublin or Paris
The hilton or any hotel in that area is good as theres a whole area of pubs and restaurants called Paceville nearby, whereas some hotels are resorts in the middle of nowhere

Thanks munchkin_utd, I'll defo check that out. At the minute we're looking at Sri Lanka and Bali as well. It would be nice to get some heat at that time of year! :)
