Anyone grown Crepe Myrtle in Ireland?

I've just returned from Australia, and was impressed by the huge displays of crepe myrtle blooms. Has anyone grown or seen many here in ireland? I'm not sure how much heat/sun they need. I'd love to grow one, but only have room for the smaller shrubs.

According to this website they can take down to USDA hardiness 7-9 which means most of southern Ireland and anywhere within about 10km at least of the coast should be fine. Whether they will flower here though, maybe someone else can answer that?
