i just got a letter from the tax office re taxing the bike. Can I tax it without insuring it first ?

Ya, I don't bother looking up my ins number. I just type random numbers, so you can. Tax and insurance are connected, as motorists meant to have both, and nominally the motortax online tries to enforce that.

well if your not planning on driving it for a while I would declare it off the road rather then taxing it. That can be done online on the motortax.ie website or by filling out the RF150 form

To tax it you need to have a policy number, a name of insurance company and an expiry date in order to complete the form. I dont believe they actually check or cross reference the details.

you only get 10 days to declare it off road, it could be too late
