2009 - Kia Ceed Opinions

    Hello all,

Just looking for thought opinions on the 2009 Kia C'eed Estate.
I have the offer of one for very very right money.
Its tested until Feb '17 and is fully serviced since day one.

Only catch is, its a company car with 187,000 miles on the clock.
I've had a look at it. It looks fine. Haven't driven it yet though.

I'm very tempted as we need a runabout and this would fit the bill perfectly.
Missus has a 35km round trip to work daily which it would be used for and not much else..

    Any thoughts on their reliability?
    Any known issues?
Is the mileage too much on this car??

    Thanks a mill..

They're very robust. I'd just listen out for a clunky dmf on startup and evidence of servicing.
If it's very cheap then it'd be worth it.

Typical dieselish stuff - DMF, DPF and Turbo.

If it has 300kkm on the clock it was driven enough not to have the DPF clogged.

Don't worry about the mileage that much. The cars wear out more with age not the mileage (if they got serviced properly).

    Thanks guys.
Don't mind telling you, Its mine for €3,000.
My gut is telling me that is a decent price.
Donedeal has them at over twice that, albeit with half the mileage.

Do you know is the DMF an expensive job on these? It has definately been serviced regularly.
Does this model have a T/belt or T/chain?

I kind of hoped the high mileage would have negated any clogging?

DPFs aren't an issue on those even with a lot of town driving.
It's a bargain at 3. You could flip it for 5 and be eaten alive for it.

They are a decent car in terms of reliability and build quality. They have a very good engine too that doesn't seem to suffer from modern diesel issues, or at least to the same extent as other modern diesels.

If that's your main priority you'll love this car. However the interior is a bit underdeveloped in them with lots of scratchy plastic, e.g the doorcards are nearly completely all scratchy plastic with no fabric to break things up. They are a bit hard too on the road imo and don't drive as well as other hatchbacks. That's not to say that they are bad to drive though.

I think it's a shame that they have such good running gear that's spoiled by a lousy interior and average styling. (To be fair the facelift fixed some of these issues though)

Still for 3k it's a bargain and if you don't like it you can easily sell it again.

    Thanks Johnboy.
Its basically going to be a shuttle for work and baby minder.

I done the deal this morning. Managed to get a full valet and full tank of juice included, which I am delighted with.

It drives well. Start up lovely. The only issue I would have was the gear changes were a bit clunky when it was cold. This seemed to abate once the car warmed up?

Tyres are near new, which is a bonus.

I'll stick a few pics up when I collect it.

If any of ye know anyone in the market for an '04 Fiat Panda 1.2 send me a PM.
Only bought it last year. I put 4 brand new michelins on it. It has had one full service in my ownership. Test out in April, but I hope to test it before I sell it.
