Hi Looking for an accountant recommendation, in specific someone who has a lot of experience dealing with the auditor/comptroller general. Need someone who could tell me what to expect and help sort out a number of tax issues.

If someone could point me towards a reliable person that deals in this area and not just general accountancy it would be great.

    Thank you

Unless you are a public body you don't get audited by the C&AG, do you mean you're getting a Revenue audit, and want a tax advisor who specialises in dealing with Revenue audit settlements??

Contact a firm and they will sort you out. Make sure they have tax qualifications rather than an accountancy though. Won't be cheap either.

thanks have you used any particular companies in the past and could recommend? as i know how wide ranging in quality there can be between different companies and your average google search brings up quite a few so its hard to differentiate.

    thanks

Pull up a list of the top 20-30 firms. Disregard the top 7 or 8 (as they will be too expensive). Any of the others will sort you out.

James Courtney from Matthews, Walsh & associates. Dealt with an audit for me once before. I was very impressed with the way he handled it.

Bear in mind, and I'm not necessarily doubting what that poster has said, but just bear in mind that this is an anonymous forum and it could be that poster's halfwit brother.

The best thing to do is get a recommendation from friends / family if possible. Failing that, if as Pawwed rig suggests you go with a mid-sized firm with a tax consultancy in it, you should get a decent service.

Does this family member of yours not already have an accountant?

Just type in top 20 accountancy firms and it should pop up.
