Anyone know what would be a good Win to Rides percentage for a jockey? For instance jockey, John Fahy this season on the flat has 13 wins in 192 rides and a win to ride percentage of 6.77% and prize money of £99,450.65.

The win percentage isn't really a great indicator of how good a jockey is. No disrespect to Mr Alex Ferguson (the jockey) but there's no way he'd have a strike rate of 17% but for the fact his father hands him a few steering jobs. Paddy Brennan on the other hand has only a 14% strike rate, but I'd consider him an infinitely better jockey.

What I would love to see is a % strike rate when I fancied horses... For eg. Martin lane on the flat & paddy Brennan / Denis o regan when they are on horses near top of market 4s or less operate at v v high success rates, whereas as likes of andrew tinkler, daryl Jacob, rab havlin etc v low on same kind of horses...

Id love to see a % strike rate on favs table

For me, if a jockey has a win percentage in single figures it is definitely a negative. Obviously other factors may need to be taken into account and the sample size needs to be reasonable, but if a jockey posts single figures season after season there is a reason for that.

It depends. I would be more impressed by a flat jockey with 40 wins from 400 rides in a season that one with 3 wins from 4 rides.
On the flat I like to see 10% for a season.
