Not yet, just created the live USB.

Watched this to see how it runs....

UPDATE: Running fine in Guest Mode on my ol' Toshiba Satellite. Picked up wifi drivers, mouse, graphics, etc. Only thing is it has the 'stock' browser that's usually installed on Android.

Stupid question, but have you found out how to install apk's? Or install other apps on it? Wanted to install Chrome.

Does it not come with the Google Play Store app installed (like the Remix Mini PC and Tablets do)?

That video shows the Play Store as available

Yeah, the link I downloaded it doesn't have the Play Store, so getting the second one (thanks for that). I booted in to Resident Mode just to be sure!

Could only get it to work in guest mode in virtual box.

Installed it to a USB stick using rufus as the installer that came with it kept crashing.

The usb stick I tried was to slow for it, even though it worked.

Have to get a faster USB to try it again before I give an opinion on this.

I know it is an alpha version and bugs are to be expected.

I did think something was up when the "remix tool" did look very familiar!

So the problem is that the bootable usb creator was just renamed yeah?

    From the link on reddit.

    https://tlhp.ml/remix-os-violate-gpl/

Part 2 show similarities to another distro (android x86 project).

Remix is built off the x86 project.

They state so on their website.

I think the problem here is, they haven't made enough changes to the product to make it a unique thing.

I'm not one for legalities however, so I'll bow out now! :D

    Well, that makes more sense...

    ...I think I fell for a Buzzfeed-like clickbait.

I'll blame lack of caffeine. Remedied immediately! :pac:

I have it installed on a partition on my dell laptop after using a tutorial on youtube that shows you how to install directly onto a partition...no usb keys. Seems really fast. Some bugs with apps freezing. No issues with google play store. Using it now to surf boards. Installed feedly, lots of google apps, etc. Resizing works ok.

I installed AmiDuOS a few weeks ago and finding it great. Happily syncs with my Google account and plays games/runs apps just great on my XPS 13 with touchscreen and Windows 10

Remix OS for PC (Developer version)
    Version: 2016012301
    Release date: January 25th 2016

Haven't download yet, because I still need to get a faster usb stick for it.

Alternatively there is also Phoenix OS

    Got a faster stick.

It's a pity that due to the limitations of fat32, we can only have a 4gb data file.
There has been posts on xda, on how to modify it for Hard disk installs but unsure if they work on a USB stick.

Got the rooted system image and successfully have a rooted version (adaway installed).

The new window resizing works really well. I wish they'd make the desktop icons snap to a grid like Android or Windows though.
All in all, I boot Remix on the laptop more than I boot Windows 10 though.

Any idea if the new version gets upgraded by clicking updates or do you have to do a new install. Or does the new version usb install?
I have a usb install that i wouldn't mind upgrading on the usb.

If I was google I would be embarrassed on 7 to be honest. BUt then I am glad of the Beta cause when I signed up for it and saw how crap it was then went searching and really saw the Remix OS. Had to wait for a bit for new stock to come in to the site I found in Ireland that sells it.

Hell google will probably end up buying remix then kill it off or ruin it grrr!
