See if you can count 10 cars in a row with correct lights, almost impossible.

1 point on licence for each one out. Wonder how many AGS have given out since it came in. 7, maybe 8?

I was a passenger in a car and one of the headlights were out.
I forced driver to pass a Halfords and we went inside, bought replacement bulbs (may as well change both at same time) and changed them then and there.

Don't let family and friends drive one-eyed :)

I'm sure theres a few people who would rather drive with no lights than give halfrauds 17 Euro, per bulb :pac:

(Always carry a spare set BTW)

I'm one eyed at the moment until it goes into the garage on wed, last time I let halfrauds do it they broke the reflector and I had to get a whole new headlight, that's €200 I'm never gonna see again ;) and I've tried, I can't change this one myself. Sorry folks.
I do put my fog lights on instead, does that make it better :p

An over reaction no doubt. I think the Guards are correct in prioritizing proper misdemeanors over the small stuff.

Since manufacturers have decided that replacing bulbs is a task that requires partial deconstruction of the car getting a penalty point is a bit much.

What they should do is make it an offence to have a blown bulb and no replacement in the vehicle then give 5 days to produce at a station with the bulb replaced, should be less time but that would be unfair if stopped on a Friday of a long weekend.

Missing lights are not small stuff. When meeting a cyclops on a narrow unlit road it's very hard to judge a safe passing distance as you don't know how wide the vehicle is, adding to the problem is the morons who use the working high beam so that they can see where they are going.

17 euro!!! I got a bulb fitted for 5 in a small garage last week. The big problem is the difficulty changing bulbs. There should be a regulation that bulbs can be changed by even the least mechanical minded in a couple of minutes.

A noticeable number of fools today driving at dusk with parking lights and fog lights. Not too sure what the thought process is that makes people decide that they need fog lights on, but not dip beam. Often pass an a__hole near Ringaskiddy in the morning with blue parking lights, no dip beam, and blinding fog lights. Definitely should be a penalty point offence for driving with fog lights on when there's no fog.

the amount of drivers who cannot use their lights properly is scary.
people with no lights on when its dark, do not use indicators, use fog lights for no reason and something that is becoming more prominent, not dipping their full beams.
If you cannot use your lights properly u have no business on the road.

I know the feeling, seriously whats with modern car makers asking you to remove the wheels front bumper and probably half the engine in order to remove the headlight to change 1 bulb which in theory should take 12 seconds.

I was told that a lot of bulbs will give up within a week of each other.
One went in the golf and within a day the second went .

Worst car I ever came across was megane and fiat stilo.

There are many more but I like the vag idea of a screw and pull clip and out comes whole fitting dead handy.

A lot of small cars with elderly drivers blind as a bat at night driving with a 5watt side light on if working and wonder why they can't see.

Was travelling recently on m11 not lit and few cars on it and saw a focus drive a bit behind me for at least 10km with 5watts only switched on.

The DRL's should have to be auto switch over and also the car companies that decided it would be good to put in dark dials that can only be seen when car is running leading a lot to think their lights are on.

Poor training if any where it should be taught in school at a young age.

Test should be mandatory to do day/night and motorway driving.

Oh and of course roundabout use.

Coming up to a roundabout earlier, a car with one parking light working. No headlights. Audi A2.

Had an interesting encounter yesterday evening with a car with permanent brake lights on, battered old Peugeot with some sort of electrical fault I presume. Couldn't wait to get passed him, quite nerve-wracking driving behind that. Once I passed him, I noticed he was a cyclops at the front whilst also non chalantly smoking and practically hanging out the side window!

Common enough fault on the 206.

On the powerbulbs website, where I get all my bulbs, they suggest changing both bulbs if one blows.
