Hey lads, after 18 odd months having to use my phone as a hotspot (I'm with 3 so having signal anywhere is a miracle) I finally have a bit of money coming in so I'm looking to get broadband in and was just wondering if anyone had any advice on which to go for, virgin isn't an option where I live. Also wondering if Eir still blocks the pirate bay?

Eir and Vodafone both block pirate bay however there are many ways around that.

To be honest if you are in "rural" Ireland then it makes very little difference who you go with as it will be just as slow regardless. We've for 6 years with our 1mbps down have just gone with whoever offers us the best package which is currently vodafone. We were with Eircom for about 2 years and when we switched there was no difference just it was a lot cheaper.

The broadband should be the same either way, just comes down to contract length, offers and monthly cost.
Sky are doing an offer including tv for 12 months too. Might be worth a look.

If theres no existing line sky won't accept the order, so depends if the phone is still active or not.

Cheers for the advice lads. Ringing Eir in the morning. it shouldn't be that slow (he said more in hope than expectation) we have fiber to the village.

Use bonkers.ie to find the best deals in your area. Since it'll all be coming down the same line the only difference will be price.

Cheers for the advice lads, I'm ringing Eir in the morning. Hopefully it won't be too slow as we have fiber in the village though not to the door.
