A quick question, was the stamp duty charge on atm/debit cards abolished in the last budget, or am I mistaken? I noticed my bank has applied the charge to my account & to my 81 year old mothers account, she was charged full amount even tho it's standard atm , no debit card facility, charged 5 euro instead of 2.5 euro , can anyone clarify please?

The charge is for last year, it is collected in arrears. The per transaction charge started from 1st January. If the debit card function was not used then there should only have been a €2.50 charge.

PTSB messed up with me last year. Got a refund. I only used POS facility.

If you get cashback instead of going to the ATM is that away of avoiding the ATM Stamp duty?

    - Yes.

People seem to go to a lot of effort to save on a cost that, at worst, is still less than 1 cent per day.
