Can anyone explain the deal that Ford dealers are now offering? When I asked what the price of a new car was, I was given the full price. I pointed out that the price was much less ( up to €4,000+) according to the Ford Real Deal but was told that the Real Deal price was for buyers that did not have a trade in!! I looked at the wording of the "real deal" but did not see any reference to a cash only transaction.

I'm pricing a car with ford at the moment and have a trade in. The real deal discount applies. I know of people who got the deal with and without a trade in! Plenty of ford dealers around so best to compare as many as possible!

Before this deal was ever announced, I went to our local Ford place to tell them that Nissan were giving me a €4k scrappage on my inlaws yoke (00 Escort) and so I could get a new Micra for €13,500.
He promptly knocked €4k off the price of a Fiesta, bringing it down to €14,500.

Ford seem to have a massive push on at the moment with discounts etc... I wonder did they decide to make hay while the sun shines in light of the VAG scandal!?

More likely they're seeing the kicking they're getting from the likes of hyundai, especially now they're not doing Garda cars and the fiesta is out 7 years.

Maybe, Ford were 3rd in overall sales for 2015, followed by Hyundai in 4th & Nissan in 5th but not a whole lot to separate all three from each other. Hyundai have had scrappage for a while as have Nissan who've now gone to a straight discount. Ford needed to do something to hold that 3rd spot?

All these cheap cars are great today, but what happens in 3 or 4 years when they're worth a lot less than the competition because they were so cheap to buy new?

All the manufacturer backed scrappage schemes do is De value their product come trade in time.

If you bought it for less then I wouldn't mind selling it for less though? Im looking at a Fiesta ST2 and wouldn't assume it will hold value reasonably well for a few years...

CAB in Cork do however have a 142 Focus ST that they are now stuck with for life because they bought it in at 40 and not a brand new one is only 32k so they either keep it as a demo etc or sell it at a massive loss...

To be fair a Fiesta ST is a different prospect to a standard fiesta in that it will have a HUGE following on the second hand market due to the relatively small number sold new.

That true, hopefully :P I see what you mean about the more standard bulk selling cars, the used values will take a big hit I'd imagine!
