    Evening all,

I was wondering if anybody knows of current/best prices for pumping liquid screed (self leveling)? I am looking to pump 75mm over 150mm rigid insulation.

Also, any opinions on the risk of screed cracking over this depth of insulation?

Would be most grateful if you could let me know of prices and/or pm me names of providers.

    many thanks in advance

Around €12-14 per m2 is the last price I got for a 50mm screed supplied & laid.
75mm seems a lot for a liquid screed. Why a liquid screed over a standard screed?

    thanks Kieran,

the build up of the floor is a subfloor over radon membrane and blinded hard core. Im planning on putting in 150mm rigid insulation with a 75mm screed over. Only reason for 75mm is to avoid possible settlement of the insulation and cracking if the screed is too thin. Having said that, 75 might be too much, would 50mm be enough? If there is no risk of cracking id go with that.

the subfloor is in a year so that's going nowhere.

i got a price of 18e plus vat for 75mm

The €18 seems ok. I presume its with UFH.
Just remember 75mm is a 50% increase in mass over 50mm. Heat up will be a bit slower and will fall off slower as well.
The higher mass would benefit the use of night rate if you want heating throughout the day.
I doubt if there will be a massive cost diff as site visit and labour will be the same.

thanks water john. No underfloor heating, the only reason for the liquid screed is to get a level finish and ease of access (roof, walls etc. complete).

i was also thinking of a wet concrete mix, with a bit of persuasion, may do the same thing. Need to touch base with the concrete companies about this..

Yes, some concrete manufacturers do use an additive for screed levelling, sometimes used for UFH. This should be more suited and cheaper for your purpose.

    Hi Water John,

    Hi,

just wondering if any of you guys could forward on either screed supplier details?

It's doubled in price then in 7 years!

I just got 58m² poured. The order was 5m³ at €1680, which equates to €29 per m² we had about ¼m³ left over.

Compared to getting a different finish, and considering what it does, not bad value.

The cost for pumping liquid screed typically ranges from $60 to $100 per cubic meter, depending on your location and the provider. For a depth of 75mm over 150mm of rigid insulation, you should calculate the total volume needed to get a more accurate quote.

Regarding the risk of cracking, a 75mm depth of screed over rigid insulation should be fine if the insulation is properly installed and the screed is mixed and applied correctly. To minimize the risk of cracking, ensure that the screed is well-mixed, properly laid, and allowed to cure slowly. Consulting with your screed supplier or installer can also help you get specific advice for your situation.
