Cycling with other clubs

So I'm a member of a club in Wicklow, and head out with them most weekends. Have CI membership and the like.

However, being originally from Wexford and heading down from time to time to see the parents - is it possible or "done" to head out for a spin with someone like the Slaney CC or the Wexford Wheelers?

Not sure what the etiquette here is.

CI insurance will cover you, and while you can only be licensed with one club, you can be a member of several, so there's nothing stopping you (at least technically) from joining either of these clubs. That being said if you want to just head out with them on occasion, obviously if there is a club membership fee this may be prohibitive/excessive for those purposes, so I'd suggest dropping a message to each of the clubs (secretary or via Facebook), and sound it out as to whether they would mind a member from another CI club tagging along the odd time. I honestly can't see much issue myself, but it's nice to be nice, and at least ask first.

For what it's worth, I'm from Enniscorthy originally, so would actually be interested to hear how you get on RE Slaney CC in particular, as while I've yet to even attempt to get out with them when I'm down, the idea has crossed my mind in the past (so basically in a similar situation :)).

I've done it before. I contacted the club first to ask their permission.

So its ok to ask? In some previous sports Ive done, there has been great help that way - if you were up in an area, there would be no problem. In other sports - you'd have been knifed by both your club and the guys you asked...

    Of course it's OK.

Presumably that's because in many other sports clubs you would be in active competition if you were with them as opposed to participating on a leisure basis (presuming, of course, you're not racing with different clubs).

    Not in every sport!

Makes sense - will get in touch
