    Aluminium or Steel ?
A small plasma cutter will cut curves or intricate shapes in either material . An angle grinder will also do both . You can use a woodworkers "skil" type saw to cut alloy plate but watch out for the hot chips it throw out . A jigsaw will also work for alloy .

Depends what you want to do with it if you need curves or just straight lines. Angle grinder would be most common plasma cutter or if you need good straight lines a guillotine but you would have to bring it to an engineering shop for that.

You'll need a large air compressor to work with the plasma cutter, and a good one will be 500+ euros. You'd be better off using a grinder or a jigsaw with metal cutting blades. Cheapest option may bay to trace out the pattern you want and take it to a engineering shop and have them cut it out for you

Lidl have never had a Plasma Cutter for sale , you will find then online for sale in Ireland but expect to pay approx €500 for the smallest type , but this would cut your chequer plate. The tungsten tipped saws that Lidl /Aldi do are quite good for the money ,but really only suitable for straight lines.

Turn the sheet upside down if cutting with a grinder, handier to mark n cut
