Hi.my wife and I will be driving from Zadar to Dubrovnik in mid June this year. We have allowed four days for the journey and would be interested to hear suggestions of where to stay on the four nights. I don't necessarily mean specific accommodation, just nice locations to spend the night. (we're in our early 60's). All suggestions welcomed.

Take a trip to Krka National Park. Its only an hour or two from Zadar. You could stay in the town of Skradin which is a small touristy town which is down river from Krka. You can get a free boat ride up and down to the Park too.

Its a fantastic country, you'll enjoy it! Amazing scenery. We did the same trip...Zadar to Dubrovnik but by bus/boat...took a stop in one of the islands along the way. There may be car ferries to some of the islands (Hvar??) if you fancied that? Split is the main jump off point for the islands.

ps. you can go swimming in Krka for free so bring your togs and towels!!

Did a similar trip last year although with public transport :)

It's the wrong direction but Plitvicke National Park is spectacular, although no swimming allowed there!

I'll echo that Split and Hvar are both amazing. With a car you will have the freedom to visit nearby spots (eg Klis castle is near Split)

Word of warning that it will be hot, we went in October and struggled at points walking everywhere with the heat!
