    It means putting the paperwork for the mortgage into the Land Registry so that if someone looks up the property they can see that there is a mortgage outstanding, that it can be dealt with before sale and that if another mortgage is taken out, the fone that is registered first gets first charge.

    Thanks for that johnnyskeleton . Now just suppozin , a mortgage was not registered , does it mean that the finance companies rights are diminished??

    ... Or in the registry of deeds if the land is not yet registered.

    Kinda. It makes it harder to seek possession and if another charge is registered in the meantime it might take priority.

    I think they can register late but that involves what is known, in legalese, as a bit of jiggery-pokery

    So, say this has happened, and the original solicitor who did your conveyancing has dissapeared without registering your property. is it possible to "represent" yourself in a case where the title/deeds need to be registered with the PRA?

    if one had already paid fees to a dodgy solicitor, would it not be the liability of the Law Society (who the original solicitor was a member of at the time of payment of fees) or would it be up to ones-self to sort out a solicitor?
