    Hi All

Hoping soeone canadvise me here. I have a 2006 astra, over the past few days it has struggled to start but this morning it just gives a constant clicking and wont turn over

I got a battery charger and it said the battery was charged, I should also say lights and radio etc. work fine

Could the battery just have gone bad and won't charge now to a level that the car starts ?

    Thanks !

It does sound like your battery is gone & needs to be replaced. Eventually due to time/cold/etc the battery won't take a charge like it used to, local motor factors would be able to sort you out with a new one. :)

If car starts well if jumpstarted, then it's a battery.

If no difference, then probably starter motor.

Left the charger on it for a few hours more and when I reconnected the battery all worked !

Might get a new battery and put it in though

There is a lot to be said for a new battery, especially for peace of mind at this time of year with the rain and cold. I had an ageing battery and there was always that weariness each time you go to start it especially after it laying up overnight or for a day or two.
