what bike should I buy

Hi guys.
I'm hoping to do a few ring of kerry type cycles this year.im new to cycling and I'm just boggled by what type of bike to buy.
I'm 5ft 9 and approx 12 sstone.im told 51 to 54 inch bike roughly.
Now carbon or aluminium. ... new or secondhand... I was hopefully about 1000euro,bbut then people are saying spend a bit extra for carbon as it's worth it.

So I guess any advice on a good reliable bike or brand would be great.

Well, 1k is a tricky price point with the weak euro.

Here's an 11sp Cannondale for a squeak over 1k.

I like this one myself - am thinking along the lines as the OP - but not sure where to actually buy one of them? I've Googled but all sellers seem to be in the UK.

caad 10 or caad 12, very nice alu bikes. Lot better then low end carbon.

Decathlon in Belfast is the only option on this island that I know of
