Including initial round of shots, chipping and neutering you're looking at around 200 to 250 EUR I'd guess over a couple of months (i.e. you can do shots now, repeater shots is three weeks later and neuter a month or two after that depending on age/size).

Male or female kitten? Cheaper neutering for males (simpler surgery).

I reckon 100ish for initial vaccinations and 3 week follow up.

    30ish for chipping and registering.

    60-100 for neutering.

Plus 40ish for the initial vet consultation. Maybe 10 or so for flea and worming treatments for 6 months.

Had a similar situation last year (stray cat decided she liked us!) and the local <snip> got her neutured and checked out (she needed an antibiotic too) for free. Worth ringing around anyway.

She's still with us, and generally sleeps all day!

I was quoted €50 for a male and €60 for a female recently (not in Dublin). I got my kitten vaccinated and I'm fairly sure the cost of the first set (not including the ones 3 weeks later) was no more than €60 and that would have included the consultation and flea and worm tablets for a kitten and a large dog.. now I may have this wrong but that's what I thought it was at the time.
I know that every so often some vets offer spaying and neutering at a reduced cost if you satisfy certain criteria, but I'm not sure when that is.

Our local vet offers a reduced rate as well for a couple of weeks every year. About €30 for both male and female. And the local SPCA offer a neutering voucher as well, 2/3rd's off for unemployed and pensioners, so maybe the op should look into it in their own area.

    Hi OP,

If the owner is on SW then the Blue Cross offer a subsidized service. Vaccinations are 25 for initial and another 25 for the follow up. They have a list of clinics on their website. They also do low cost neutering at their HQ in Inchicore. Also, I think TK posted about the DSPCA tenner for spaying a tom! :) Hope the new addition brings you all lots of joy :)
