Feedback on Maurice Lacroix Pontos day & date automatic

I'm considering purchasing this model. It is retailing for €1,450. Has anyone recently purchased this model or even the brand itself and has feedback?
I already have a TH automatic, but I am open to other automatic suggestions within the same budget as above e.g RW etc

Can Maurice Lacroix watches be bought cheaper abroad? I will be buying from an Ad, not online.

    Many thanks

What's the RRP? ML values drop like a stone once you walk out of the door so I'd want it to be 50% off at least. Is it this model - if so, it's probably their most attractive watch.

Whether 50% is feasible in "rip-off Ireland" - I've no idea.

At this price level there is lot's of choice anyway. Is the movement in-house?

Other brands to consider would be Longines, Nomos, Damasko, Grand Seiko, Sinn or Glashutte. The hunt is part of the fun, good luck.

But do remember if you decide to sell it in a few months you'll be doing well to get 2/3 of your money back.

I'd guess that the OP means one of these:

A beautiful watch IMO and by all accounts very well made.
Only problem is that the Maurice Lacroix name just doesn't have the cachet in the watch world and used prices drop like a stone..so resale would be poor.

1450 seems pretty good for a new one though ...I've seen them advertised for 2k

Yes, peasant that is the one I'm looking at...there's a nicer blue one in the same model for €1,950. Why do they drop in value so much? I wouldn't be selling it down the line, but I don't want to purchase if the depreciation is that bad!

No particular reason and no fault of the watch, but there are only a a handful of brand names that keep their value or even increase in price ...but they are ridiculously overpriced (for what they are) to start with anyway.

For whatever silly reason the name Maurice Lacroix just doesn't have any value in the eyes of the people that crave status and recognition ..they make some pretty good watches though.

This thread is worth a look (well maybe) - if only so that you can hear me drone on a bit more about ML.

Hmm...I'm going off it already! Think I might look into the second hand market and get a vintage Heuer with a nice leather strap! Thanks for all your advice!
