    Hi.

Heading to Tenerife in 3 weeks and would like to bring my own bike. The thing is I've paid for flight already. How do I go about organising the bike now . Do I call Ryanair or can I do online.

Sorry I new to this , never brought a bike on plane before.

    Thanks for any help.

    €60 (and you'll need a bike bag/box).

    €60 each way for bike.
And if you phone them, it's charged at premium rate
If you need a bike box, let me know. I suspect, we live a few miles apart.

Once you havn't already checked in you can log in with your flight details online and add the bike. Adding the bike when you turn up on the day will be much more expensive.

.. Adding the bike when you turn up on the day will be much more expensive.
...and no guarantee of a place as they limit bike numbers per flight.

For a week or less, why bother?

    http://www.bikepointtenerife.com/bike-hire/hire-road-bikes-tenerife

Not much dearer for 6 days hire compared to 120 for Ryanair both ways.

OP is your bike decent? Check Ryanair policy on what they'll pay out in event of damage/loss.

Packing bike is a pain, transferring your measurements isn't that hard

    pack it well.

my rear deraileur and brand new helmet got damaged with ryanair on flight over to tenerife.

my fault as much as ryanair. was in a rush so wasn't packed as well as it should have been.

if you have to claim, you have seven days to make claim at the airport you land at - so in your case tenerife airport.

no i didnt claim. i brought it to the bike shop and enjoyed my holiday instead.

i've rented from bike from bikepoint - and they fixed my bike within one hour of dropping it into them. sound bunch of lads.

enjoy your trip - masca, tf28, tf563, tf21 and aim for the hill, anywhere in peurto cruz, if on northside bring arm/leg warmers.

    have fun!

Also Free Motion http://www.free-motion.com/en/tenerife/road-bike/road-bike-rental/ have opened a bike hire centre on Tenerife recently as well.

I am of the opinion that for anything up to a week, hiring is a better option as the quality of hire bikes has improved exponentially over the last few years.

Interestingly Free Motion's entire fleet in Gran Canaria is entirely Cannondale equipped but in Tenerife they are offering Specialized bikes
