Today my Altezza failed the nct. Low idle was 1.70 lambda was .97 and high was 2.02.
Straight away I was think the cat is burned out but would a replacement cat bring the emmisions down by much. any suggestions would help. New sparks plugs when in a month ago Toyota genuine and did air filter and oil change days ago

did you put the cat back in yourself ? was it in good nick ? , got similar results in my old dc2 and threw in a good sup of diptaine ( got at any local motor factors) , drove her hard for few days and gave her holly out to the test center and it passed no problem then :)

Never had the cat out myself so wouldn't know what condition it is in tbh. I have noticed in the last month to 2 months fuel consumption has become poor. I must try diptaine I have used it on a few cars and had mixed results but wouldn't do any harm since I have some lying around

if you took the cat out you'd know urself what condition it was in by looking through it and shaking it looking for any major rattles etc , it could be ##### , if fuel consumption is bad id say its shot , could u get a lend of a working cat off somebody or pick one of them up on adverts or donedeal :) ? diptaine worked for me before but does take a few days to work :)

Yeah I could borrow a cat from one the lads no problem. I'll take mine out and give it a bit of a look over. I'll throw the diptaine in and give a go a few days before retest. Thanks :)
